The SKF Engineering & Research Centre is the Group's central product R&D facility. It is located in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands, and has employees of many nationalities. Here an international group of some 120 scientists, engineers, and support staff are engaged in the further improvement of bearing performance, the integration of electronics and software in SKFs products and the development of new software tools.
They develop both technology and knowledge in different areas such as materials, bearing design, lubrication, mechatronics and seals. By integrating these competences, a full understanding of the operation of a bearing and its application will be achieved. By combining this with the application of artificial intelligence, in expert and knowledge based systems, the Engineering & Research Centre is uniquely placed to enable SKF to Equip the world with SKF knowledge.
For the Engineering & Research Centre we are looking for a:
Senior Researcher - System Modelling
Job profile:
In this position, you will drive and execute mechatronic design and modeling & simulation activities within one of the five departments of the SKF Engineering & Research Centre. You will develop knowledge, technology and innovative solutions for advanced bearing and mechatronic systems. You will define, manage and execute project tasks that involve internal and external resources.
Your profile:
Academic degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Physics or equivalent experience
Preferably more than 5 years experience in modelling and simulation of static and dynamic electro-mechanical systems
Experience with non-linear Finite Element software (Abaqus / MARC / Ansys)
Knowledge of Pro/ENGINEER and/or Matlab and Simulink environment would be beneficial
Proven practical experience with test and verification of new technology concepts
Conceptual thinking and innovative attitude
Strong analytical skills
Self-motivated, pro-active team worker
Customer focused and result oriented
Experience with Design for Six Sigma would be beneficial
Fluent in English, orally and in writing.
The willingness to travel.
The position holder will be based in the SKF Engineering & Research Centre in the Netherlands and report to the Mechatronics Department Manager of ERC.
